Hi,
My name is

Daniel Baleckaitis.

I have been in art, in one form or another, for most of my life.

I fell in love with photography from a young age, in seventh grade to be exact. The issue with photography at that time was both the cost of the film (yeah, I'm that old) and the cost to process it. But I would collect cans and do odd jobs to earn the money. My first camera was an Olympus OM-1 that I bought at a garage sale for $20.

I attended college, while working full-time 3rd shift (overnights loading steel trucks) and found biology. Although I was an art major, I found myself drawn to the beauty of biology. I'm not going to lie - Biology was HARD. I focused on medical illustration, and that's when I stumbled upon actual research. The next thing I knew, I was studying circulating brain hormones and behavior of low-temperature dormancy in garter snakes! Then I was off to work with songbirds for a long time. Yet I was still capturing moments with my camera, from frigid nights in the early spring of the aurora borealis to portraits of national parks, birds, and still life.

I also have some fun hobbies; watchmaking (repair), machining metals, woodworking, and home-brewing (BEER)!

I believe there is a story to be told in every photograph that both elicits and captures emotion. Working with my clients to elicit these emotions/expressions is rewarding. A session is usually filled with lots of laughs, not only from my horrible dad jokes, but also my useless 80's-90's pop culture references. My job is to reveal the beauty that has always been there, letting you glimpse what others see.

Have a beautiful day...
